Well while I'm sitting in the stand today I figured I would share my story of a buck I shot yesterday. I started hunting around 3 yesterday afternoon. The winds were high and didn't seem like they were going to stop at all. So thinking the winds would continue I still had a good feelin about the evening. Asked god to help me out with one of these nice ones running aroun in here. It was still ml season here so this was the last time I was taking it. Espically since I hate shooting my ml. It's on old cheap one and I can't get it to group well at all. So about 100 yards is all I'm comfortable. So this year I decided to switch type of power let bullets I was shooting to see if they worked better, and they didn't. So after shooting most of what I had I went to the woods with one load in the gun and a spare load with the bullet I used last year as that's all I had. So anyway about 5:30 a doe comes out in the edge of a field followed by two smaller does and a nice 7 that I had seen once and had on camera with a non typical buck. I knew it was him as soon as he walked in sight and knew I was going to shoot him. So I try to rotate around to get a shot off to my right. Try standing leaning against the tree seemed to be good. So I squeeze the trigger, watch the deer and the smallest fawn runs off and the others just stand there. As they are staring at the road about 400 yards away trying to figure out what happened I reload. Keep in mind with a load that I have never shot through the new scope I just put on there a few weeks ago. This time I amed a little further back almost at guts, Squeeze the trigger this time and bang he does the mule kick and takes off. Also remember I have no idea now where the shot was. Then a guy hunting near me comes over to help me look for blood. We look for about 10 min an nothing. Then as we walked further we found a good trail going into the woods. We tracked it to the edge and tol him I would come back later, being afraid where the shot might have hit. So about 11 we go back out to look. Walk to the edge of the woods where the trail led into the woods. I noticed a small cedar tree had been knocked over. Told a buddy can be far he's already running into trees. Took another step and there he was. I couldn't have asked for a better shoulder shot. I believe there was a little guidance from the man upstairs on this one. The picture won't upload from my phone right now but will put it up when I get home.

Yes GT it was not a good thing to shoot him with a load that I had not tested before the season. But good lord wiling he placed it where it need to be. However I wouldn't advise trying this and I myself won't do it agin. (I hope)
