My morning started off with instant activity. I had a small spike come out feeding on some sweet potatoes. After watching him walk past me and dispear. I begin to here all heck breaking loose behind me and to my left. Knowing he and several nice bucks where in this area my heart begins to race. After several minutes of silence. I hear the sounds of deer running toward the path I am hunting. Out bust a doe..followed closely by a nice buck. They crossed that path at a steady pace at about 100 yards, no chance for measuring him up. About ten minutes later out trots a nice 6 and then this big boy trotted out. Even though I already had my gun up we have a 15 inch inside rule..... I new instantly he was a shooter just no time for a shot. I did everything I could to get them/him to come back I grunted, rattled, bleated, and prayed. After 15 to 20 minutes of sitting there trembling from all the excitement. I hear them in front of me headed back. Bless her heart she busted out at 50 yards this time. My nerves are shot at this point. She had 2 new bucks trailing tight behind her, both small basket racks. I still hear more coming this time however I was able to catch a quick glimpse of him 50 yards before he hit the lane. I had my gun up and was ready. He hit the path pause to listen and that was all it took. The 30-06 found its mark. Then I really began to shake. Never had the shakes like that before. I climbed down after a long 2 minute wait. I had to check for blood. After a breif search he had only gone 50 yards. Boy there was no ground shrinkage on him. We had several trail cam pics of him. Just never thought the Lord would give me the chance to harvest him. Praise the Lord!!

    Johnston County
He was killed in Johnston County. Yeah Viper the guys at the club were kidding toninght at our club meeting about my spelling. I was texting them with a play by play as the hunt was unfolding. It was funny to hear those guys try to repeat what I was trying to text. And yes that feeling will continue for a while. Not to mention it was 11-11-11 and I was hunting in stand B11...

    LOL
11-11-11 and B11.....somethings are meant to be! GT and Creek poked fun at me when I shot SKY. I stayed up almost all night.

I was sleeping in the SUV with the dome lights on texting and talking to friends and looking at the pictures of him....still in disbelief. The next morning the car battery was dead....lol! The next day I sat on a tree all day and just watched deer walk by without thinking of shooting anything!

Enjoy the ride man! Happy for you!
