So I get up this morning at 4:20 to go hunting. I get my shower using my scent away soap. I make a pot of coffee and pack a lunch. I load up in the truck and I head to the hunting land. On my way up there I saw four does and a four point buck on the side of the road and in the fields. So im thinking heck its going to be a good morning. I park the truck I start to layer up and spray down with scent away. I grab my bow and I head to my stand. I get up in it and sit there for six hours. In those six hours I saw about 20 squirrels and a big fat zero deer. To make it even better I checked my deer cam and at 5:50 a nice doe walked though by my stand. I just mised a chance for a deer oh well though. It's just my luck another hunt coming home empty handed. It's all good I enjoy every minute being in the deer stand and hunting. Maybe next time i'll stick a deer.

Thot I had it all figured out sat am. I just knew when dogs got to runnin, something would come thru, nope. moved to another area, oak ridge layered with acorns, bedding area to the south and west, rub line, fresh scrapes......no deer, but mosquitos were a plenty.lol I did not hear one shot from 4pm to 6:50. that's when I realized it wasn't just me. I'll try it again in the morning.

    Moon
We were just coming off a full moon and I'm sure most of the deer walked all night and bedded down during the daylight hours. So lots of dead deer on the road Saturday morning on the way to the hunting land. This weekend should great hunting.

    Deer Cam
I have a deer cam out overlooking my corn and from the pictures most the deer came though at night. Also the coons come out and eat up the corn. I had a few deer come though the day time but not very many.

    Just My Luck??
You're lucky you can, you will, and most importantly .....YOU DO get up at 4:30 a.m. to get in position for a chance at a nice buck. Days like you are referring to come all the time for avid hunters. It's the day you don't go that your chance of a lifetime passes you by. So stay after them, do all the things it takes to put yourself in a position to take that easy 17 yard shot. The biggest deer I ever killed, I overslept and hunted in sleet and freezing rain for about 2 1/2 hours until a doe pulled a nice buck right past me in terrible conditions. You never know when , where, or how often you will get a good chance.Trophy Buck very rarely show up and pose for you against the perfect sunrise/sunset in your favorite stand on your favorite farm. That's why we go after them isn't it?
