  • Sumter County Hog

A lot of good outdoor activity goes on this time of year from football games to early goose season, not to mention deer and fishing. But one of the most forgotten seasons is--hog season. It's always hog season in South Carolina, and with hogs reported in all counties across the Palmetto State, don't be surprised if you see one during your outdoor pursuits.

Keith Grimley was hunting a stand that he has been monitoring with a trail-cam for a few weeks. He's seen 2 bucks on the cam that he says are definite shooter, and he was hoping to see one of them. No deer walked out, but he bagged the first hog he's ever killed, downing it from 60 yards with a Remington Model 7 270.

Grimley's pig tipped the scales at 110 pounds, and he said it will become the main course this weekend while his group of friends joins him to watch football and 'pig out' on wild game and fish.
