If that deer was 30 yards in front of me.... I would hope there would be pics of me holding his head up on here..but I belong to a hunt club and if I would've let that deer walk someone else would take him.

    nice deer
That is a heck of a deer and I might be going out on a limb but I'am going to say that deer is only 2 1/2 but in the area I hunt he would have def been taking a ride in my truck but if you can hold out on them do it. good luck

    Keeper
I firmly beleive that the best way to age a deer is to take out his lower jaw and examine his teeth. Only 1 way to acomplish that! Good restraint and nice deer. I definitely would have had to taken a shot at him. I hope he makes it.

    Shoot or not
First I would say you made the right call. He is a young 3 year old. Some people might disagree but that is ok. Good luck Donion CREEK

    Dead
Man I second what Gt says...I don't know how you do it. you have more pictures of nice Deer than I have of scrubby doe or fawns lol. I have got one picture of a buck and it was a small four hitting some corn that's it. With that being said this one would definitely be dead to me. Teach me your ways!! lol

    Know Your Herd
Only you know your herd, the land and the possibility of someone else getting a shot on him. If he was on land that had no pressure or possability of another hunter taking him.....then I'd let him walk.
If he was down here in the southeast....I'd be holding his antlers with a big smile on my face.

Sup girl....glad to see you on here. You have to start getting the other outdoors women posting comments and reports. I know they're cruising the site....they just feel intimidated I guess, to post.

Your observation are correct in he might get another chance. Some deer just want to be shot and show up over and over!

    Nice Buck!
That's a nice 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 yr old there. I'd say that if you know there isn't a good chance of someone else shooting him this year then let him walk....mineral him up between now and next season and you'll have a dandy buck next year. If you have heavy pressure around you and are sure that someone else might get at him then it's your call to harvest him this season if you get another chance. Either way, down here in the southeastern part of the state he'd be in the freezer and his mount headed to the taxidermist more than likely! Best of luck on your season!

    Update on Life
Hey guys, sorry I've been missing in action, just been SUPER busy with school and DU. Summer went pretty good, but definitely wasn't long enough! Hope everyone is doing good! Viperx4, I'm working on getting some more of my friends on here. My roommate is quiet the hunter as well! Gobblintom, that's definitely SawMilll Man for you! Wouldn't surprise me if he's been out there just to watch the movement to brag on his awesome set up. Oh, I went dove hunting this past weekend, but we saw all of 10 birds all day for 2 days straight... but on the plus side I'm so ready to get home to get things together for deer season!

    Let em grow
You did good letting him walk. It is a gamble to let em walk with so many people around us that would quickly shoot him but you'll never be able to see a giant if everyone shoots them before they reach their full potential. Enjoy watching him grow bigger and smarter.
