Got in the stand @ 3pm. hot and sweaty. Watched deer and turkey all afternoon. Had two old does wind me two seperate times. Thought for sure I was not going to have a good afternoon. About 7:15 caught movement to my left and saw that ivory flash of antler I was looking for. Even though I couldn't tell how big the deer was I immediately began breathing hard and my heart starting beating that hectic rhythm that we all love. I had seen this deer with others on camera so that made the anticipation that much worse. The first buck to come up was a nice 8 that any other time would have hit the ground, then a nice 7? in velvet and two other small guys. They messed around my salt for a minute or two but I couldn't take my eyes off of the deer that was hanging back. He was the last to come in but when he did he came trotting and scattered the others. I got lucky and didn't have to wait for a shot opportunity long. The other 8 walked by this guy and he followed from my right to left. When he passed behind a big oak I tried to draw back. Failed on first attempt due to my frazzled mental condition at the time. The second attempt was a success. Made a good clean heart/lung pass through that piled him up about 50 yard from my stand.
