Went today to take my camera down from a small 15 ac tract that I have been hunting on and off for the last 6 years. I like to rotate through all the places I have to hunt every couple years to give some type of deer management there. This year I decided to return to see what had grown up while the years passed. I haven't hunted this land in about three years now. Before that I had killed a big 8 and some does but the other stuff were small scrubs.

So after taking my camera down a guy met me in the field as I was walking out. It was a guy that lived across he street and he works for public works at the same place I work at the FD. So I knew him already we were talking and he just got permission a few weeks ago to hunt the same property. So... needless to say with him living across the street I'm not going to bother hunting out here this year. Especially since I am after that non typical first, he will prob have this one killed before I get out there. Figured I would share the pics anyway, the 10 point is a nice buck. Still young, brow tines very short, but very tall nice rack.

    WOW
Man thats a Helluva 10 if you ask me....If i had permission I wouldn't give it up as easy as you...He might be a sloppy hunter and work in your favor and might not be as dedicated as you are...This is a AWESOME buck!!!I would be proud to take such a Deer myself!!!

I would like to shoot him too but the land is very narrow and straight so there is only one way in and one way out. After (HOPEFULLY) I shoot the other deer I will see if anything has happened to this 10. If not then I will pursue him. The neighbor knows all about him because there is a small field on the front of the property and these bucks are always out there. But to answer you, yes I will but will be second on the list. I still have a few other places to scout with the camera too so hopefully they are holding something nice so I won't have to bother here. REALLY wish he didn't get permission tho and could wait on this one with no problem. Oh did I mention I am 1 of 3 for that has permission for this small tract! He won't live long. These are kind of city bucks the travel quite a large area. I could prob get them on camera about 2 miles away easy just because the lay of the land and amount of cover there.

When you took your camera down, did you have any of the other guys on film? I have 1 stand that is close to the city also and i'm not the only guy in the area bcause i found another Stand set-up while tracking my Bow-kill last year...Lucky I seen his Corn and Cuddeback before I was on film but after asking around I found out that it's the adjoining property land-owners Grandson who I later meet....Our Stands are about 4 to 500 yards apart and he killed a Nice 8 with a Bow also that I had never seen and he said he had never seen the 1 I took either....Just never know but I know if i had a 10 like this around my stand...I would give it a fair sit....Good Luck...If the weather cools like they are saying it's going to then I'm gonna take the First Shot I get at a Nice Doe myself.

Looks like you got a good problem. Be smart and only hunt the correct winds. Do your homework. I hope you get him.

Man, from what I have seen in the pics you have posted it appears you might be sitting in the catbird seat. The Ten Point, well, VERY NICE BUCK!! Good luck and keep us posted.

    Thanks
Thanks guys, I would like to kill this one but with so many people in a close are I imagine he will be gone before I get out there, if not I will try for him. Especially if I am not the one graced with that non typical buck. I'm not sure what I'll do if I kill that non typical. I prob wont try to kill the 10. If God is gracious enough to bless me with the NT then I think it would only be best to let someone else kill the 10. And BTW please don't think I am doing anything different than any of you other guys. All I do is put out a bag of corn and half a bottle of Stumpys root juice a few weeks before season. What I have been posting is NOT what i typically see before season each year. I don't know what is going on this year, BUT I LIKE IT! Good luck to everyone. -------ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT!!!--------
