The SCDNR, Ducks Unlimited, and the SC Dept. of Corrections is bringing back a program that has put over 31,000 wood duck boxes in South Carolina's wetlands.

To be considered a recipient of up to 5 wood duck boxes, fill out this form at the DNR's website http://www.dnr.sc.gov/wildlife/publications/pdf/WoodDuckProject_2011.pdf.

The State Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is funding 50% of the cost of this project, and the Wateree Correctional Institute will handle construction of the duck boxes and the predator shields.

Outdoorsmen who are selected to receive boxes will pick them up at one of 5 DNR offices and must agree to install the boxes according to DNR guidelines.

Only 1000 boxes will be given out this year, and the deadline to apply is Oct 15, 2011.
