I would like to see what load of bullet/powder that works well for you guys as for the smoke poles. I have done a lot of studies on Powerbelts, Sabots and what I have found out is the powerbelts flies pretty good at 100 yds. When you shoot this load any further than 100 yds the load drops up to 15 inches at 200 yds. When I shot the sabots bullet it only drop 4 inches at 200 yds. I was completely amazed.. Also I noticed with loose powder that the bullet is more consistent. Nothing against any of these loads but thought I would share some of my findings with you guys.

I shoot a cva optima with 150gm of pellets with a 50 cal .243 gram powerbelt, and its dead on at 100yds. my set ups for ml max at 100yds so i am confident with that shot. fouling after 3 or 4 shots move it a little, so I typically run a brush after each shot. ML is what I'm waiting for. I will bow hunt a few days, but crank it up during the ml season. cant wait to get amongst'em

I shoot a CVA Kodiak Magnum in Obsession Camo but only shoot 2 pellets (100 grains) with a Powerbelt 245 Grain Bullet...Maybe you guys can help me as well because i have never been able to cut holes at 100 yards with a ML...I rarely take such shots anyway but every little bit helps...I can Write my name with my Model 70 270 at 100 yards but MLs have never impressed me but now that we are getting 2 weeks for ML maybe i'll try to dail it in a little tighter this year.

GT explore your options. I would highly recommend TC shockwave or hornaday sabots. Nothing against powerbelts because I used them in the past but for a more consentient shot the sabots fly better. Here are the ballistics charts for the Sabots.

I get good results from Hornady Sabots 250 grain and charge with Hodgdon triple seven pellets. I use 50/50 in a Knight rifle and 209 shotgun primers. At 100 yards it is dead on.

hey creek, i agree with most of the post, power belts shoot very well, most of the area i hunt i wont be shooting over 100 yrds. last year i bought a TC impact because of the good reviews. I shot a doe with 100 grains of pellet powder with 243 grain power belt and its worked wonderfully. deer went 5 yards with a heart shot. Though this year i sighted in with TC sabots and im very impressed with accuarcy. good luck

I shoot a Knight MKII in 50 cal. with a 240gr. Barnes Expander MZ bullet and use 100grains of Tripple 7 powder the gun also has a 209 conversion kit. I shoot a 1 inch group at a 100yards and have never lost a deer, the bullets do an awesome job on deer. I have also been using this combo for 6 years and never changed anything.

    same drop issue
I shot power belts but after 100 yards they drop fast, plus i'm not sure if they expand that well or even at all. I switched to barnes 250gr spit-fire TMZ on top off 115gr of blackhorn powder, I have only shot them out to 200 yards but they are very accurate. They are a full copper bullet that mushrooms into 6 pedals... Just devastating on game.
