    Whats the county?
Whats up GT, unfortunately I don't know enough about ellerbe to tell ya. The price per acre is awesome though. Just wonder what county its in and I hope not halifax or all the northeast counties. I have a gut feeling that with the success in those areas that the hunting pressure is gonna increase ten fold and possible push the deer off those areas. I like to find private land that takes some work getting permission to hunt and has no dogs running on it. Who knows though, maybe it's one of dream deals and if you decide to give it a shot I would love to see some trail pics from that area.

    County
I'm Guess Rowan but that don't sound right...The speedway is in Charlotte if that helps ya and Yeah my placesa are private but still have a few Line-Hunters that P me off...I honestly believe that hunting will be a rich mans Game in the Very Near Future...If you don't have your own land or a ton of money...You simply wont be allowed to hunt...In West V where i'm from...You can just about park and hunt anywhere you choose and a few years ago some NC Guys leased a popular spot and guess what happened?....You Got it...The Locals got P O and Burn every bit of it...Thats just the way things are up there...Even when i go Home to hunt, i use my ATV because i'm scared that with my NC plate, i will coime out to a pile of ashes...Sad but True

    Rising costs
You know GT you are dead on with that observation. Its sad but true because now days more and more people are trying to figure out the easiest way to earn a dollar and with the help of the outdoor channel and all they put on there more and more farmers are raising the price of their land. The one diamond in the ruff that I have found so far is that I have secured several great spots this year that don't cost me anything and the key words were these- 'I only hunt with a bow'. Land owners, especially the ones with cattle love that because so many have had bad experiences with dog hunters and losing cows. That is sad because I can remember the day when a dog hunt was pretty fun. It was done a whole lot different back then.

ellerbe is in rockingham county which is down 220 south. 1000$ for 200 acres is prob a lil more than I would lease land in this area

    Ellerbe
hey GT, ellerbe is in richmond county, off of hwy. 220 and hwy. 73 and hunting with dogs are allowed down there. just fyi, the dogs down there can't read 'no trespassing' signs so you might have a few running around if you have some bad hunting neighbors. ellerbe is not a bad area, mostly pines and sandy soil, you might have some peach farms around, and it's in the eastern deer zone. just depends on where the lease is located.

    Good Deer
Went to deer classic with friend 5 or 6 years ago.Guy he knows took 8 point he killed at Richmond co. scored in 140s. Said there land was in sight of race track. I lived in Norman for a couple of years maybe 20 miles from race track.I found a set of sheds that where prob. in 130s maybe bigger. Only problem with Richmond is dogs and gnats.

Post location of land or message me if you hear anything. I've live in Richmond County and I'll give you my opinion of the location and any surrounding hunters/clubs that I'm aware of. There are some big deer in Richmond but depending on where you are you have to deal with the dog hunters. A lot of folks come from out of town to hunt with dogs here. Dogs are not allowed west of Little River, which is the small northwestern portion of the county

    They correct
They are correct about the dog hunting. It's where near where I used to hunt with dogs when I did hunt with dogs. If your land joins people like me when I dog hunted then you should lease cause I always respected my hunting neighbors. Then they are some like some of the neighbors I had running my land and shooting my deer need to talk to the people that own/hunt the neighboring properties if possible. Also they are nice bucks down there my friend TJ Price shot the deer that won bag a buck contest for here in October 1999 issue with a 139 and change buck just down the road in Hoffman/Laurel Hill area. We also had land near the track and they are big bucks around it.
