Scotty Harrington is an intern with the Sandhills State Forest and when he isn't working, you can find him fishing on one of the Sandhills' many ponds.

Harrington has caught a few bass on plastic worms, but his go-to lure is the Rebel Pop-R. 'There is just nothing like catching a largemouth bass on a top water lure,' said Harrington.

Harrington likes to focus on edges of weeds, especially close to the bank, but he says you shouldn't shy away from casting around standing timber or fallen debris, even if such objects are in the middle of the pond.

When lily pads or other aquatic weeds are present, Harrington likes to throw a soft-bodied top water frog, like a Spro Bronzeye Frog or a Scum Frog from Southern Lure Company.
