One of the best parts of saltwater fishing is the variety of species that can be caught on just about any fishing trip, whether inshore, nearshore of offshore. Fishing in the nearshore waters off of Murrells Inlet for spadefish, the target was spadefish but a close encounter with a cobia began the day and several black sea bass were landed when the spades sounded. Fishing aboard Captain Jay Baisch's Key West boat, with his Fishful Thinking guide service, the crew was filming a television episode for Reelin' Up the Coast, with Capt. Englis Glover. The star of the show was Blake Hodge, of the Wrecking Crew, who was to catch his first ever spadefish on film. It was mission accomplished and then some, especially considering that Hodge reeled in his first ever black sea bass along the way!
