  • Palmetto Cup-Sporting Clays Tournament

    The 2011 Palmetto Cup Sporting Clays Tournament was held this past weekend at Hermitage Farm in Camden. 72 entrants shot in 7 different classes in the Palmetto Main Event.

    In Class M, Scott Jones took the win, posting a total score of 190 out of 200. Jones shot a 95/100 on the loblolly course on day 1, and finished up with a 95/100 on the cypress course on day 2. Anthony Gallian finished in 2nd place in Class M, posting two 91's for a total of 182/200. Ronald Cail took 3rd the hard way, shooting an 87 on one course and a 94 on the other.

    In AA, Randol Tilghman won with a combined score of 167/200 after shooting an 81/100, some of which was shot in the midst of a serious downpour, followed by an 86/100 the next day. Tilghman won in a tie-breaker over Richmond Wilhoit who also shot the same score.

    Jeff Phifer took Class A with a score of 179.

    Jane Singleton won the Main Lady event with a combined score of 155 after shooting a 75 followed by an 80. The Main Junior event was won by Matt Fisher, who shot an 86 and an 89 for a total of 175.

    Hermitage Farm features several sporting clays courses, a five-stand, and the state's first FITASC course. It is home to numerous tournaments each year and is owned by Joe Cantey who has won several sporting clays World Championships. For more information on Hermitage Farm, visit
