  • Jeremy Wilson Wins Murray BFL

Jeremy Wilson of Blacksburg, SC went bass fishing on Lake Murray Saturday, caught 5 fish, and went home with over $4300. Wilson took top spot in the WalMart FLW’s BFL event on Murray with a bag that weighed 21 lbs, 6 ozs. 2nd place was a tie, with Ryan Raley of Lexington and Greg Rikard of Leesville each weighing 5 bass that totaled 20-05. Conway’s Mark Curry also topped 20 lbs at 20-02 for 4th place.

The win was Wilson’s first on the WalMart BFL tour. He fished one BFL tournament in 2010, catching a 5 bass limit that weighed just over 7 pounds and did not finish in the money. The quantity of his fish was the same for Saturday’s tournament, but the quality was much improved, as was the paycheck.

Several 7+ pound bass were brought to the weigh-in, and the big fish award switched hands several times throughout the day. It ended up with Kevin Fulmer’s 8-09, which netted him $625.

The BFL is one of several tournament trails put on by WalMart and the FLW. The next BFL tournament in South Carolina will be held March 19 at Lake Wylie. For information on how you can fish the BFL series, or to get the full 2011 schedule, visit
