  • DNR Range Day - Feb. 12

    Free family day at the range set Feb. 12 and March 5

    Don't miss your opportunity to join the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for a free family day at the range. DNR, the South Carolina 4H program and the Mid-Carolina Gun Club will be conducting an introduction to shooting sports field day on Saturday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, March 5.

    Activities will include: shotgun range, rifle range, pellet gun range, archery and a hunting and fishing simulator. Wildlife and fisheries biologists will also be on hand to answer your questions about the outdoors experience.

    The events are perfect for the novice shooter, both youth and adult. It is primarily for those interested in learning about hunting and shooting and how they can get started in these outdoor pursuits. Firearms, ammunition, targets and bows will be provided free of charge at all of the shooting stations. Participants may bring their own firearms and bows if available, but should not bring any ammunition. No centerfire (high-powered) rifles will be allowed at the ranges on these days.

    All firearms and bows must be unloaded and cased at all times at the event except when on the ranges. Participants not following this requirement will be escorted off the grounds.
