  • Sumter County Hog Hunting

Two Sumter teenagers laid down three wild hogs this afternoon. The brothers quail hunted earlier with their dad, and while dad was taking a nap, they decided to sit in a buddy stand together in hopes of putting some bacon on the ground. Their plan worked out.

Just around dark, Lee Hickam nudged his brother Charles, alerting him to look across the food plot they were perched over. The bigger hog, which weighed in at 175 pounds was claimed by Lee, the younger brother first, but that was okay with Charles, who put two smaller ones down.

The boys drove the hogs to the Peach Orchard Processing facility on 441 in Dalzell, who is open for hog processing until March 15. Their dad still believes the boys are pulling his leg about the hog hunt, but he'll know it's the real deal soon when he comes home to find the boys grilling up some pork chops--and hand him the processing bill. Dads, stay awake at the hunting lodge!

Way to go boys - no need to sleep away the day when you could be in the stand getting ready to stop some bacon! Kudos to their guide service too!
