I shoot 3 inch Winchester Supreme Number 5s and they have served me well. Its like a happy Medium for my gun but i haven't patterned my new auto yet. I think Remington Nitros are a great shell for the Money also. Also has anyone ever shot the 'Kent' Turkey loads? The price on them are awesome...Something like $6 a box and my theory on a box of $30 shells is this...There has been unknown numbers of animals killed long before these high dollar shells hit the market, even 3.5 shells for that matter. I have read articles on shotgun patterning and they suggest buying 'Serveral' different Chokes and Shells to find the best for your gun but WHO can afford to do that? Not your blue collar Turkey hunter like myself....I Might have to take more chances to get my animals closer but then again thats what i love about hunting anyway.....Good luck Guys

I have been using Supreme Elite # 6 for past Three years and I really like them. There high as a woodpeckers nest but they seem to be a really good shell.

    Extended Range
I called a gobbler in for a new hunter a few years ago and like a rookie he moved and spooked the bird but he was shooting Number 5s in Winchester extended Range and he dropped the bird at 50+ without a Flop...I was impressed but not to the $35 a box yet LOL

I agree on the price thing, and you want EVER get my daddy to spend that on a shell, he says just do your job right and call em in to 30 yards and his 20 can getem!!! ...but i like knowing that if i mess up and do need a killing 2nd shot instead of a wounded bird I got the best out there. I do a LOT of hunting in several states but when you mix in a bow I dont shoot but maybe a half box a year. Thats 10 to a box I might add, so it aint that bad. Not when you think of what we pay to hunt SC.

Yeah he gave me 4 that day and i have 2 left. I try to back up my first shot with a extended range. I called a bird all the way down a logging road last year and he got to the decoys and started acting funny and i shot, well he rolled over with legs kicking in the air and i laid my gun down and pulled my face mask down and as i was getting up i sen him take flight and fly across a cutover, I was shocked and never really have got over it lol I searched that cutover pretty good and never found him. Thats the reason i bought a Auto...I had never had that happen before and once i shot 1 and it took off running and i shot again and he ran faster like i didn't touch him so i took off running across a huge plowed field behind him and 300+yards later i seen him again at the corner of the field so i ran toward him and he tucked under some brush to die when i got there...It was crazy, I thought i was going to have a Heart attack chasing him but if i hadn't went after him, i would have never known he died. Turned out to be my only double beard and it was on my Late Mothers Birthday. Makes me wonder how many birds go off and die.

    Turkey Load
Remington Nitro #5's have been good to me. I shoot an Undertaker out of a Benelli SBE and anything out to 45 yds is a dead turkey. One bird this year was 53 yds. Had a solid rest and he had his head extended which made for easy pickings. 1 shot and he folded up and rolled like a football down the mountain. I don't think that a shotgun load makes as big a difference as a hunter does. It's all about patience, and being calm, cool, and collected....

Got to talking to a older gentleman the other evening about Turkey hunting and if he was going to the 'Davidson County Longbeards' NWTF Banquet that was held last night at RCR Museum. Well talk turned to Shot shells and he told me that he had 3 boxes that i could have and he would bring them to the banquet if i wanted them and i said sure. Well 2 boxes are 'Remington Extended Range Nitro Magnum buffered shotshells' and the size is 'BB' and the other box is 'Winchester No.2 size' He said they are the best Turkey loads a person could ever use and the 1 box of Winchester has a shot shell chart on the back and it states that for Turkey its....BB .2,4,5,6 Has anyone ever used these for Turkeys? The guy doesn't hunt anymore because of his age and said these shells were from the late 80,s early 90's but they look great....He said the BB load was a 'mean' load lol

I use a custom shell with #8's & #9's. The shot is heaver than Hevi-Shot.

The pattern at 40 yards has 200+ pellets in a 10' pie plate.
