Hey everyone my name's Hannah and I'm a fairly new hunter but I'm trying to learn all I can. I'm looking forward to being to talk to some of you more seasoned hunters and learn what I can. I got my first deer and buck this year which was posted by a friend earlier in the year.

    Welcome Hannah
Hello again Hannah and Welcome to the site, I say 'again' because I remember SawMill Man posting your success on your First buck and Glad you became a user. I think you will enjoy it on here. Its alot of fun and there is alot you can learn from wanna-be pros like myself LOL, I'm just kidding, But you will learn a few things...You know what they say about Opinions...So please feel free to voice your own and ask any questions you may have and If i can't answer them then I'm sure someone else can and if that don't work, we can always call 1 of those physic hot-lines and get a answer for ya...Don't know why those people don't play the lottery since they could get the numbers before-hand LOL....Anyway, Welcome again and stay in touch.

    Welcome Hannah!
Welcome to the forum Hannah. Love the screen name, 'Southern Charm'. I remember your post on your first ...congrats again! You need to get your buddy to take you hunting in his spot because he has done well this year.

Like GT said if you have a question, someone on here will be able to answer it. Research is the best tool when it comes to hunting. Posting and commenting often will get you some recognition on this site and who knows...you may meet in person some wonderful people from this site as Creek, Goblintom and I did.

Thanks for the sound out....looking forward to your next harvest report!

Thanks guys! I'm really excited to learn all I can. My good friend sawmill introduced me to the site and showed me around, and I figured i'd give it a try. Hopefully i'll get a chance this week during a few afternoons to go to the stands and see if i have any luck. Like sawmill mentioned in my earlier post, after shooting my first buck, I was hooked. Now im hoping for something bigger and better to come my way! Thanks again!

    Your Welcome
Your Welcome Hannah and keep us posted on your future outings...You will learn that you don't have to take a animal to have a AWESOME hunt...Some of my Best Deer,Duck and Turkey hunts have been when i came home empty handed...Its the experience that makes a great hunt...the animal is just a bonus in my opinion....Good Luck

GobblinTom, you are so right! Each time that I have went out to the woods I've had new memories that will last a lifetime. They really are what makes the hunt unforgettable!

I have about 40 racks on my 'Wall of shame' and i can walk you through the hunt step by step like it only happened yesterday...You will see LOL

Haha. Thats great! I'm actually making a video of all our hunting trips for 2010 to show to the family on Christmas Eve, and its actually pretty decent if I do say so myself. It definitely shows the good times we've had throughout the year!

    Cam?
Hey SC, What Camera you using? i have a Sony handycam DCR-SX44 and it does ok but its not HD...A friend of mine has a dinky Kodak Playsport and it is HD and i was impressed with some of his footage...This is 1 of his Self-filmed videos with that little cam.

    first buck
My first buck was in 2007 and it looked just like yours small rack with one horn bigger than the other. in 2008 i killed my 2nd and third, see my profile pic for reference. You can go from antlers to monster in no time. keep at it you never know when the big one will walk by.

GT, I'm on about the same boat as you are camera quality wise. I was actually using a fulifilm digital camera and my brothers panasonic 3CCD. It aint too bad, but it works. And if you use certain programs on the computer, it makes a world of difference in the film.

Trigger, I've seen some of your pics and they are very impressive. I'm just ready for that day to come when I do get that monster, as I'm sure everyone else is. I'ma keep at it! Thanks for the confidence boost!

    Programs
Hey SC, If you don't mind would you share some of the editing programs you use? My camera puts each session on the card independently instead of a continuing act. I need to learn how to edit them together like...The intro-The hunt-The recovering ETC.........Take Care

    Mac
Well luckily I got a Mac computer, so I use a program called iMovie. Macs do cost alot, but in the long run they are WAY worth it. If I happen to run across any other good programs I'll be sure to let you know!!! I hope you have a blessed holiday, and Merry Christmas! (:

Love my Mac!! As far as creative and Production applications it doesn't get any better and simpler to use. I want to eventually grab a camera and record some hunts in future...just time and money lol

If you ever get the chance and can afford it.. upgrade to final cut pro.. That is standard for a lot of stuff.. also.. if you are in the market for a camera.. I am really thinking about selling my Canon GL-2, just have not broken down and put it online yet for sell

    Canon GL 2
I was looking at a Canon GL 2 but if I'm not mistaken, Isn't it a Mini DV Brand? The guy i spoke with stated that everything is going to SD Cards ETC. He even said that Music CDs will be obsolete in less than 10 years as well as DVD Movies. Anyway, let me know if you decide to sell it....Its not HD is it?

    MiniDV
Hey GT.. Hope you had a great christmas!! You are right the GL-2 is a Mini DV tape camera, Slowly, but surely the industry is moving over to hard drive and scandisk operation, pros and cons on both of those fronts.. I can assure you of that, I had a friend that had a video on his camera which was a hard drive camera and the wife deleted it by mistake.. and it was gone. had it been on a tape or a card.. then you could of had a chance to have the raw data, tapes take up space.. so there are pros and cons to each.. I have had good times with my GL-2 and have not hardly put many hours of tape through it.. is in great shape.. I will.. let you know if i make my mind up about selling it.. and you are right its not HD..
