Not sure if any of yall watch Deer and Deer hunter on versus, but it was a good show tonight. They said it was going to be the latest rut that any of us would see. The reason I'm posting this is because it is exactly what I've been seeing. They said the pre rut will start around Oct 31, but due to warmer temperatures the prime rut will be starting this weekend through next week. I guess I'll take it with a grain of salt, but I think they are dead on. Hope everyone has a great weekend and hope my buddies back home in Hickory and western area have a good opening day of rifle season.

    IN A RUT
I seen my first chasing tonight by a lindsay Lohan Doe LOL Chased a Smaller doe all over the place grunting but didn't have any signs of antlers. Had 13 in field and this was the only 1 chasing...Had small 6 and a 13 inch 8 also but they paid little attention to the lesbian Doe...She could have been trying to run her little one off but why the grunting? and why did she chase it for so long (10/15 mins)...........CREEK has been saying that the 21st something is going to happen...Cool my Daughters Birthday...Hope i get a Big 1 tomorrow...The 20th............Good Luck

    Rut activity
I'll be anxious to see if he is right. I haven't seen any chasing yet on the places I hunt. Usually the first week of Nov the woods are crazy. I've seen deer, just no chasing yet. I'm in Chatham County.

    Seeking????
Sat till 11:00 this morning and seen 3 with 2 being small bucks that walked all around cut-over and never stopped to eat. Couldn't make 3rd deer out... it was cruising....Maybe the seeking phase is starting???I dunno but i hope so...Its been a weird season so far, I have seen a ton of deer but it sure don't seem like Nov. Has it passed or is it late???Hard to say...But in my opinion the bucks were more interested in the does during Bow-Season.....Good Luck Guys

a lot of sign, but no acitivity
I had plenty of sign from deer droppings to 2 brand new scrapes that appeared over night. I hunted the lunar table this morning. I got in the stand around 7:30 and stayed until 11. I didn't see a deer or even a squirrel, if yall can believe that. On the bright side, I did get to come back and watch the Pack beat the Heels!Good luck to all next week. Heading back to hunt the farm in Hickory. I've heard of a few big deer roaming the area, but we will see.

    Rut
Hey guys, I agree I think they may be seeking. On Saturday the 20th I got in my tree by 545am. I saw a couple does moving fast further away from me. Not buy 15 minutes later, from the way the does went, came a spike buck. He walked all way to within 15 yards of me and as I stood I noticed a big 8 coming. Needless to say he got dropped at 7:23 am. When I laid my hands on him first thing I noticed was his forehead. It was soaking wet and he was full on rutting from what I could tell as his glands on his back legs were nice and moist. He must have just shaved up a cedar because he had shavings on his rack and forehead. Oh I hunt in Chatham.
