Ok guys, Give me your advice. Thursday is the last day I can hunt this year due to job commitments. Haven't killed a deer in about 4 years. Would like some meat. Do I shoot a couple does ans call it a season or try to hold out for a buck and see what happens?

Yeah Viper, thats what I'm thinking too, would love to smell some sausage!! Plus, if I wait for a buck it could be another lost season. Thanks for the input.

    I'd drop something
Well...waiting on a buck is fine, but I promise you that you'll be happy come Feb. or March or later on when you would like some backstraps on the dinner table. If you bow hunt take a doe and sit around and see if an ol'buck appears if you want to do so! I'd sit all day too, if you can.
Pack a lunch for the stand and go in early and hunt till noonish, then take a break then go back out around 3ish and sit till dark. The ruts starting all around so you never know what you'll see! Best of Luck to Ya!

    Finally!!
Well, after job promotions and going to bow hunting and nothing happened. Haven't killed one for three years. Hunted Thursday morning and saw 3 small bucks chasing one doe. They were here and gone in about 45 seconds. Went back that afternoon and got in the stand at 3:30 and shot a small 6 at 3:40. I know I should have let him go but the guys in my club told me that since I haven't killed anything for a while to shoot whatever, so I did. Dropped him off at the butcher today. Hopefully around the holidays I can harvest a big doe. Thanks Guys!!

Sounds like that doe needed a break from 3 bucks....look at it this way....you helped her out and you got meat. Good Job!

    Doe vs. Buck
Thanks so much Viper!! I actually think the six was chasing the doe that morning. When I pulled the trigger and the buck jumped about 4 feet off the ground I saw does running everywhere. The 300 didn't leave me anything on the left front though. Can you say hot sausage?
