Howdy, I Hunt on Butner- Falls gameland in Durham and Grannville County. Ive not Had any luck at all for bow season or Muzzleloader, ive not seen but maybe 4 different deer the whole Season, ive hunted over 30 Days. I See A Big Drop, in the deer population on Gameland. Does Any One Feel the Same or Do You Disagree. Thanks!

    Game Lands
I don't know about the GL's in your area, but living here in the mountains gives access to some of the most prime deer country, IF you're willing to walk for it. Try to range out and hit a new game land for a day just to walk it over. Who cares if you don't shoot a deer, check it off the list and move on. This approach has really helped me over the years. When mast crops change, or pressure gets high, it always helps to have an ace in the whole somewhere. But that will always require more time and energy than the average hunter is willing to put forth, which is what it takes to find (and kill) the big bucks!!

    What county are you in?

Ive Let alot of bucks walk the last week in half, i only take mature Bucks. Theres One Part of Butner Falls That the deer are very good at Hiding, Or They Are Not there, Im A Weekday Hunter, so ive got the upperHand, i would Love to Start taking some does, just havent seen any. I coonhunt off New Light Rd, saw a nice Buck there (for Gamelands) several times deep in closer to the bridge than the parking spot that is cable gated. He was broke off on one side or would have been an 8, as he was a 4 and a nub. He was smart, would sit right there while we walked to the dog and watch us again as we walked her back by on a leash, he recognized we were no danger to him...I think it takes alot of smarts for a deer to make it to 8 pts on game lands...jmo
