New archer here. I have been reading all your guys posts for the last two years. Make a long story short, started with a cheap 100.00 Golden eagle, no let off, nothing. Got the Block, 3-d Target and lots of practice. Went out last year and hit a buck that needed culled. Couldn't find him, but now I'm addicted!! Got a new Mission BX-1 and awhole bunch of new sights and arrows. Not much on the camera but I'm wondering why I didn't do this earlier. Good luck to you all on 9-11, I'm already pumped!!

    WELCOME NEW ARCHER
Welcome and congratulations on your new addiction. Don't want to sound like a salesman but you might want to consider a Thermacell for the early Archery season and invest in a good Safety harness as well..You would be surprised at how goofy you can get when it all comes together for ya. Read a article last year about a guy that shot a buck with a muzzle-loader and it fell and while he was reloading, his buck got back up and the guy freaked and shot again WITHOUT pulling his ram-rod out...You guessed it!!!Ugly Ugly Cut to the face, Could have been alot worse...Stay Safe and Keep us Posted and Again...WELCOME

Thanks so much!! Got the Thermacell last year and never needed it for some reason. I'm down in a pine bottom and the bugs never bothered me, just the heat coming in to the stand. Been looking at harnesses, just don't know which is best.

    Safety Vest
My wife made me buy a safety vest. The cheap ones were to combersome so I wouldn't wear them. Hunted 4 years without one even going 30 and 40 feet up trees. Year before last I was on a tree at 30 feet, shot at a deer off to the side of my stand and knocked the top of the climber off the tree. Bad thing was I didn't have any toilet paper with me to clean up when it was all over. I went out then and bought the Hunter Safety System Pro Series harness. Love the the thing and use it all the time. It will set you back 130.00. But your life is worth it. If it's not easy and confortable you won't use it!

As for the new addiction....congrats. I call it the new drug! I need some bumber stickers made. 'BOWHUNTING THE NEW DRUG...GET HIGH ON A TREE'.

Thanks Viper! have followed you the last several years and love the lunar charts. Checked all my deers times and they were right on the money. I think I will sleep in and hunt from 11-3 and see what happens. I'll look at the harness info you sent me. Do you still use one when your in a ladder stand? Thats what I'm using .

    Just my opinion
Hello again BBGun, I cant speak for Viper but a fall is a fall my friend and you can never be too safe. Like i stated, when the adrenalin is overflowing...crazy things can happen. And like Viper...Before my daughter was born, i never wore a harness but do now. And if your pinching pennies like everyone else...Gorilla makes a Great Vest Type Harness for $50. I,ve seen the Name brand ones on ebay sell pretty cheap but not this time of year when everyones looking...Good Luck

    I'm with Tom
To answer your question BB....I'm with tom. I'd even say it's easier to fall out of a ladder stand. Climbers are pretty confining especially if they have a front rail as mine does. The ladder stand I first hunted on, had no front rail!
Shot my first bow buck off a ladder stand.

It doesn't matter which harness you use....IT MATTERS IF YOU DON'T USE ONE! Good luck and be safe!
I think I speak for everyone here......we want you around to post that big buck you're gonna shoot!

Hey there BBGun...Gotta say, even though I don't go hunting much now...well, I DO hunt bass!...when I did, it was archery only. I love the hammering of the heart as that deer pulls closer toward the shot!

If I ever get ouot there again, I will still have my bow with me...and a saftey harness, of course! :)

    Old vs. New
Thanks for the welcome!! Yeah, I can't wait to get my new Mission out there also. Totally amazed at the difference in it compared to that old Golden Eagle. Like a Caddy compared to a Yugo.
