This was one of the most stubborn birds I have ever encountered. He had another tom, a jake, and a hen with him. As we were walking back to the truck on May 1st, two toms lit up and were gobblin there heads off about 40 yards from us. We were walking down a farm path in the woods and the toms were out in the field just through the woods. I about had a heart attack because we never heard them until we got right beside them. We were going around to set up and we came across 3 jakes feeding in another field so we backtracked to another path and I got my dad sat up right on the edge of the farm path and the field. They were about 60 yards away then. I called and here they came. They walked in circles, strutted, and gobbled for 45 minutes at 15 yards!!! 5 more steps in the direction they came and it would have been over in a couple min but they liked where they were at. They finally started to walk off and I told my Dad to lay down and crawl out into the opening so he might could get a shot before they left. He did but the closest tom was 50 yards away. I told him to hold the gun at the top of the head and shoot! Boom!! Dropped like a rock!! I was so happy to see my Dad get his first Turkey ever! I can't wait to get back out there!

Thanks man!! HE was 18 lbs., 8' Beard, and 1' spurs. I am going to take him again Saturday to see if we can get the bigger tom that was with him. Yep, I will never forget that hunt. He was with me when I killed my first last year so that is pretty cool.Good luck on the last day with your son!!
