  • Pee Dee River Fishing Report

Recent Rains Good for Pee Dee Anglers

The Pee Dee River system was at a dangerously low level until recent rains which have caused water levels to spike. This hasnít helped the fishing too much, but it does help boaters out and will aid in improving fishing in the long-term.

Catfish are still biting excellent, especially in the Big Pee Dee when fishing with live bream or live eels in deep holes and around channel banks.

Bass and bream fishing has been tough throughout this river system, and even though large numbers of fish are not being caught, some very nice-sized fish continue to be landed for those braving the high-water fishing. Redbreast fishing with worms and crickets are producing decent results on the Little Pee Dee, with a few large fish in the mix. Popping bugs fished in the evenings are also producing decent catches of bluegill and largemouth bass. Plastic worms are also catching some bass around cover.

Look for all the fishing to improve once the rains stop and the water clarity returns.
