PowerPro Zero Impact

PowerPro Zero Impact

Whether you’re punching Beavers through thick mats of grass for big bass or slinging big poppers for yellowfin, checking your line for nicks, burrs and weaknesses helps prevent breakage at the most inopportune moment.

Suffice it to say, you don’t want to find any spots of lesser strength — but that’s exactly the point for PowerPro’s new Zero Impact line.

PowerPro certainly doesn’t make its new line with any weak spots; rather, it’s the beefed up Termination Zones that give Zero Impact the unique qualities that earned Best in Show for the line category at ICAST.

Essentially, PowerPro uses a proprietary process to create 32-inch Termination Zones in its microfilament braided line. Spaced every 20 feet and tapered into the adjacent line, the Termination Zones are colored black for easy contrast with the so-called “nominal zones” of standard breaking strength. Flanked by a few inches of white line for easy visual reference, as well as strike indication, the Termination Zones offer up to 50 percent more breaking strength to offset any knot-strength loss.

Anywhere you need to tighten the drag and pour it to the fish, PowerPro Zero Impact promises more of that eye-crossing power. Available in 20-, 30-, 50-, 65-, 80- and 100-pound test, Zero Impact comes in aqua green or high-vis yellow with 150- and 500-yard spools.

The line retails for $25.99 to $79.99. Go to www.powerpro.com for more information.

SPIDERWIRE Stealth Glow-Vis Braid

Think of it like a “now you see me, now you don’t” tool for fishing. Spiderwire has taken its popular Stealth braid and created the new low-vis green color, which is a slightly lighter green than the original moss green. This gives the line a less-visible look underwater — a helpful trait for spooky, line-shy fish.

Above the water, the line sports a high-vis glow when exposed to sunlight that facilitates the line watching necessary for detecting those light bites. The new Stealth Glow-Vis has a low-vis green color with a unique UV reflective coating with fluorescent brighteners that illuminate above the water.

Even on cloudy days the line will still receive UV rays for the glow effect. Since no UV rays penetrate water, the high-vis glow returns to low–vis green once the line goes subsurface. The line is also exceptional when fishing in tannic or muddy/stained water.

The polyethylene microfiber construction of Stealth is strong, smooth and round. This structure, combined with Teflon pressure treating, allows the braid to shoot through guides for longer casts. The breakthrough Color Lock Technology holds in the color, resisting fading or bleeding on clothing or equipment.

Spiderwire Stealth Glow-Vis Braid is available on 125-yard and 300-yard filler spools in line tests from 6 to 80 pounds. Bulk spools with 1,500 yards of line are available in 10- to 80-pound test.

MSRP ranges from $14.99 to $184.99. More information can be found at www.spiderwire.com.
