Rockingham County hunter bags 15-point trophy

It’s his second trophy of the 2020 season

Jerry Eubanks of Summerfield, N.C. killed a huge 15-point buck in Rockingham County on Dec. 14. The buck has been green-scored at 187 3/8 inches. And that’s not the only trophy Eubanks has killed this year.

“I filled my second tag with a buck of a lifetime. He was green-scored by Levi Tussey of Driftwood Taxidermy. The buck has 15 points and scored 187 3/8. He came from Rockingham County. I was truly blessed,” Eubanks said about his most recent kill.

Here’s a side view of Eubanks’ 15-point buck.

Earlier this season, on Nov. 4, he killed a mainframe 10-point that green-scored 148 inches, also in Rockingham County.

Eubanks lets a lot of bucks walk, and said that’s the secret to killing trophy deer. He also said he feels blessed and lucky to have an understanding wife who puts up with his passion for hunting.

“This is why I let so many small bucks walk and either watch them or video them. They will never get this big if you take them when they’re young. Thank you to my wife for putting up with me and understanding for one of the things I spend a lot of time doing. I hunt almost every day and my wonderful wife makes this possible by putting up with me,” he said.
