WALHALLA - A hunter pled guilty July 29 to fatally shooting another man while hog hunting in March 2009, but he will not serve any time in prison.

Earl Dean Jordan admitted in Oconee General Sessions Court to firing the fatal shot that killed another hunter while hunting hogs in 2009 near New Cut Rd. outside Walhalla. He pleaded guilty to negligent discharge of a firearm causing a death.

Jordan said he fired his gun when he heard movement in the woods, hitting Adam Becker. Becker died at Oconee Memorial Hospital later that day from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The shooting was investigated by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, and the Oconee County Coroner's Office.

Jordan was sentenced to three years suspended to 90 days home incarceration followed by two years probation.
