Britt Myers ends day three of the Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite at Winyah Bay in 3rd place after slipping a little from yesterday’s top spot. His total weight so far of 46-14 suffered after catching 8-15 today compared to new leader Brett Hite’s 18-pound bag (50-2 total) and Kelly Jordon’s 16-4 for today (49-0 total).

Myers, from Lake Wylie, was the only angler that made the top 12 cut that did not have a double-digit day, but he is still well within striking distance of the top spot. He is the only angler from the Carolinas that will be fishing tomorrow, as the other locals finished outside of the top dozen spots.

Hank Cherry Jr, of Maiden, N.C. finished 30th with 28-12, David Williams, also of Maiden, finished 33rd with 28-2. Marty Robinson of Lyman, S.C. struggled today, bringing just one fish to the scales after catching a 5-fish limit each of the first two days, and finished in 48th with a total weight of 23-12.

Even though today didn’t go as well as the first two days for Myers, he’s not complaining.

“That’s the best 8 pounds of my life right there because that’s put me in a position to win a Bassmaster Elite event, so I’m stoked about it. I didn’t stumble, I just didn’t get the big bites. Tomorrow, if I get two or three big bites, it’ll be over with,” he said.

Myers has spent the past three days fishing in pretty much the same location on the Cooper River, and he said he will do the same tomorrow.

“The fish I’ve been catching are still in the same basic location, but they’ve relocated to accommodate the shrinking tide, and I think I figured out where at the end of the day. The tides are getting better each day, and I’ve figured some things out that I think will help me tomorrow,” he said.

Joining Hite, Myers, and Jordon in the quest for tomorrow’s top prize of $100,000 is John Hunter Jr, Brent Chapman, Jacob Powroznik, Keith Combs, Randy Howell, Mark Melendez, Boyd Duckett, Chris Zaldain, and Gerald Swindle, who has entertained the crowd with his commentary at every weigh-in so far.

Come see the final weigh-in tomorrow at the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex at 800 Venture Drive in Georgetown, S.C. Weigh-in begins at 3:30, and plenty of other activities will be going on to keep everyone entertained, as the the 2016 Winyah Bay Heritage Festival is being held on the same site.
