Brian Thrift of Shelby finished in the money in two FLW Tour events over the past six weeks, while Brent Long of Cornelius, Chris Baumgarner of Gastonia, Brian Travis of Concord and Matt Arey of Shelby all took home checks in one of the two events.

Long, Thrift and Baumgarner cashed in at the June 16-19 FLW Tour event at Kentucky and Barkley lakes in Kentucky.

Long placed 31st with 29-8 for $9,950; Thrift ranked 34th with 28-8 for $9,930; and Baumgardner finished 55th with 25-13 for $3,733.

Travis, Thrift and Arey finished in the money at the July 21-24 FLW Tour event on Alabama's Pickwick Lake.

Travis finished 21st with 30-13 to win $9,122; Thrift was 28th with 29-4 for $9,122, and Arey was 45th with 26-4 and won $7,892.

Randleman's Mike McDonald finished sixth among the co-anglers at Kentucky/Barkley with 36-8 and earned $1,987.

Tim Hawley of Linwood had 21-0 to place 31st among the co-anglers at Pickwick and won $1,032. Timothy Sisk of Gastonia finished 56th with 18-12, and Wayne Hauser of Mooresville ranked 58th with 18-9, winning $651.

Four finish in money on James River

Four North Carolina anglers have checks to cash after fishing the July 7-9 Bassmaster Northern Open on the James River out of Richmond, Va.

Pat Golden of High Point weighed in 32-1 and banked $5,320 for finishing eighth. Tracy Adams of Wilkesboro took the 11th spot with 27-6 and won $3,547.

Lexington's David Fritts made his return to the BASS circuit a profitable one, placing 19th with 21-10 and collecting $2,084. Since 1996, Fritts has fished FLW events, but this season he is fishing the three Bassmaster Northern Opens to try to qualify for the Bassmaster Elite Series.

Jamey Caldwell of Carthage had 18-11 for 26th and $1,596.

Three cash in Everstart tourneys

Three fishermen from North Carolina took home checks from two Everstart Series Events in June.

Brad Staley of Pleasant Garden finished 38th with 27-2 and banked $1,193 at the June 9-11 tournament on Alabama's Pickwick Lake.

Justin Jones of Apex had 38-7 to place eighth among the co-anglers and won $1,495. He also had the Day 2 big fish of the event with a 7-pound, 10-ounce bass, winning an additional $197.

Thomasville's George Lambeth ranked 19th at the June 23-25 tournament on New York's Lake Champlain. His catch of 30-12 was worth $1,249.
