The 32nd annual Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic is being held this weekend at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds in Columbia.
One of the biggest deer scoring sessions will take place at the show, with scoring being performed by wildlife biologists and other members of the SCDNR.
John Godwin of A&E’s Duck Dynasty will be one of the main attractions at this year’s show. Godwin has been working for Duck Commander for the past 14 years building duck calls and figuring out the best placement of decoys during hunts.
The Extreme Raptors show will feature a number of birds of prey. Eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls, and their handlers will showcase these birds, who could teach us all a few things about hunting and fishing.
The Bass Tub, a giant aquarium that is the size of a typical 18-wheeler trailer will also be on display, and will serve as the location for fishing seminars throughout the weekend. With live fish in the Bass Tub, attendees will be able to watch how fish react to the techniques and lures presented during the seminars.
Joey Mines, host of Outdoors With Joey Mines television show, will also be at this year’s Classic. Mines has fished all over the world, and while his fishing stories are informative and educational, they are also often just as entertaining.
The SCDNR will have a large presence throughout the weekend. Aside from scoring deer racks, they will have a boating simulator and plenty of activities for kids as well as grownups.
Plenty of vendors will be on hand to sell hunting and fishing gear, and the outside of the fairgrounds will be home to boat dealers, ATV dealers, tractor dealers, and hunting, fishing, and truck accessories.
