The S.C. Department of Natural Resources will stock 10,000 striped bass fingerlings in the Catawba River at Fort Mill Landing and 120,000 striper fingerlings at Buck Hall Landing on Lake Wateree today.

The Wateree stocking will take place at 11:30 a.m.; stocking on the Catawba River will be at 2 p.m.

SCDNR stocks from 7 to 10 million fish in state waters, including striped and hybrid bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, channel and blue catfish, bluegill, redbreast, redear sunfish (shellcracker), and rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Anglers in South Carolina spend almost $742 million to fish each year, making the sport, with economic multipliers factored in, a billion dollar business in the Palmetto State.
