South Carolina Sportsman’s Bag-A-Buck contest will return this month with a grand prize worth more than $1,000.

The contest, which will be run on, is presented by Leupold. It allows readers to enter photos of deer they harvest in monthly contests, the winners of which will be determined by drawing. Contests will run Aug. 15-Sept. 30, Oct. 1-31, Nov. 1-30 and Dec. 1-Jan. 1. Monthly winners will receive a $25 gift certificate to the magazine’s Outdoor Store.

The winner of the grand prize will be drawn randomly from among all readers who enter the contest.

The grand-prize winner will receive an optics package from Leupold that includes a rifle scope, rangefinder and binoculars, along with a blackpowder gun donated by Nichols Store in Rock Hill and a one-day hunt for two people donated by Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County.

The grand-prize package will be presented at the Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic next March in Columbia.

“We are again excited to give readers a chance to share their successes afield through the Bag-A-Buck contest, as well as have a chance to win some great prizes,” said Dan Kibler, the magazine’s managing editor. “We really look forward to seeing some of the nice deer that are being taken as the season progresses.”

To enter, readers simply go to, establish a username and choose a password. Then, click on the “contests” link and the “Bag-A-Buck” link. Digital photos of deer should be uploaded, along with a short description of the successful hunt, including date and location.

Kevin Millwood of Bishopville was the grand-prize winner in the 2012 contest. He entered a 9-point buck killed on Thanksgiving morning in Lee County.
